Founded in 1984 by three litigation attorneys from a major Philadelphia law firm, Conrad O’Brien has established itself as the insider’s law firm—winning bet-the-company cases for AmLaw 100 firms and Fortune 500 companies, as well as high-stakes cases for government entities and individuals. Our attorneys are adept at resolving clients’ matters behind the scenes, but when that’s not possible, we do what we do best: take the case to trial and win. Our uniquely agile, collaborative approach to litigation allows us to solve clients’ problems. Whether it’s successfully taking a case to trial or preventing legal problems before they occur, we perform with the smarts and tenacity of a special-ops team. The entire firm – from our administrative assistants to our Chairman – operates under one core principal: to provide first-rate litigation services to our clients. Conrad O'Brien has extensive experience serving as both receiver and receiver’s counsel in a variety of matters and has established relationships with experienced accountants with whom we have worked on multiple receiverships.
Kevin prides himself on working closely with his clients to identify and minimize risk exposure, and deftly guiding them through litigation, disputes, regulatory actions, and compliance. Clients seeking Kevin’s counsel hail from a broad spectrum of industries, including law firms, real estate development, life sciences, insurance, casino gaming, education, and government.
Kevin advises clients on risk management in high legal exposure industries, identifying proactive steps to avoid litigation or to mitigate risks by better positioning the client for unavoidable litigation, and zealously defending them in litigation when it occurs. He represents companies in matters involving civil fraud, fiduciary liability, director and officer liability, professional malpractice, government civil enforcement actions, government audits, and employment litigation. Much of Kevin’s recent risk management work involves advising private companies and government entities on litigation risk emanating from privatization proposals, federal and state funding and procurement programs, and other risks inherent in the interaction between public entities and the private sector.
A substantial portion of Kevin’s practice involves conducting internal investigations. Many of his clients face the challenges of potential parallel administrative, criminal, and civil litigation arising from the issues triggering the internal review. Kevin has served as an expert witness on the subject of conducting internal corporate investigations.
Kevin, who is also licensed as a solicitor in Ireland, England, and Wales, is currently the Chairman of the Irish American Business Chamber and Network, which promotes the development of economic relationships between the United States, Ireland and Northern Ireland. As such, he assists U.S. and European companies in transnational litigation and compliance matters. He also serves on the International Committee of the National Association of Federal Equity Receivers.
Kevin is a member of Conrad O’Brien’s three-person Executive Committee that manages and oversees the firm. Among his management responsibilities, he is the lateral partner recruiting liaison and oversees the analysis and negotiation of the firm’s alternative fee agreements.
