Oren Bitan has an extensive legal background that includes business, real estate, banking, receivership, consumer product, and commercial litigation. Mr. Bitan is known for his ability to solve complex business disputes for his clients in a strong but practical manner. Ms. Damian also serves as counsel to Receivers serving in both state and federal court. She counsels companies on corporate governance matters and serves as counsel to special litigation committees performing internal investigations in response to shareholder derivative demands. She also represents officers and directors in corporate and securities litigation matters, and various partners or members in closely held “business divorce” matters. Ms. Damian is a Past Chair of the Business Law Section of The Florida Bar, Immediate Past President of the International Women’s Forum (IWF) Florida Chapter, currently services as cochair of the ABA Business Law Section Business Bar Coordination Committee and the Receivership subcommittee. Peter Davis JS Held Phoenix, AZ Senior Managing Director Peter S. Davis has over 25 years of litigation experience in areas including complex receiverships, forensic accountings, restructurings, fraud detection, bankruptcy matters, valuations, and damages. Mr. Davis has served as Receiver in regulatory matters brought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Trade Commission, Arizona Corporation Commission, and the Arizona State Board of Education, as well as lenders and equity holders. His areas of expertise include understanding and interpreting complex financial data, fraud detection, turnaround, and determining damages. Mr. Davis has provided expert testimony in numerous Federal, Bankruptcy, and State court matters. He has taught on the subject of forensic accounting and receiverships at Arizona State University and has provided training on forensic accounting and receivership to numerous organizations. Chris Dove Hunter Law Group Prairie Village, MS Chris represents clients in financial fraud, insurance recovery, fiduciary duty, asset recovery, real estate and commercial litigation. A major focus of his practice is representing receivers and bankruptcy trustees, recovering assets that have been transferred or hidden. Chris also has served as a receiver. Chris started his practice as a clerk for a United States District Court Judge in Kansas City. He and his wife-to-be moved to Washington, D.C., where he practiced at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, the oldest law firm in the United States. He began his career at CWT representing investment bank lenders in commercial real estate finance transactions. After the market crash, Chris transitioned to patent litigation (and became a licensed patent lawyer), white-collar corporate investigations, and commercial finance. He then went to work for the United States Department of Justice in the areas of tax liability, fraudulent tax shelters, and corporate directors’ and officers’ liability. Chris was born in Topeka, Kansas and went to the University of Kansas, obtaining an undergraduate degree in biochemistry & philosophy, followed by a master’s degree in statistical ecology from the University of Oregon. He obtained his law degree from the University of Kansas in 2003, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the University of Kansas Law Review and was Order of the Coif. He has been named “Best of Bar” in Kansas City by a vote of fellow attorneys and was a member of the 2014 Class of Centurions Leaders Program, Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. Outside the office, Chris enjoys cooking and wine and loves watching his daughter and son play sports. Joe Grekin Schafer & Weiner Bloomfield Hills, MI Joseph Grekin is an experienced litigator, negotiator and counselor, with expertise in commercial, bankruptcy, receivership, and general insolvency issues. Mr. Grekin specializes in representing clients at a tactical or financial disadvantage, using creative and novel methods and arguments to fight tenaciously and professionally to achieve favorable results for his clients. Mr. Grekin has represented businesses, individuals, and receivers for over twenty-five years in state, federal, bankruptcy, appellate, and administrative courts in several states. He has extensive experience managing large and complex files, including receiverships, bankruptcies, and commercial and bankruptcy litigation, relating to tens of millions of dollars. Mr. Grekin has been a cutting-edge advocate in the field of debtor/creditor issues in the litigation context, and has successfully advocated for his clients in several published cases on a wide variety of issues. He has extensive trial experience on commercial and insolvency issues, which makes him an able negotiator and advisor not just in litigation, but in other commercial and bankruptcy venues as well, from business formation to insolvency counseling. Mr. Grekin is a member of the National Association of Federal Equity Receivers, and re-created the dormant Debtor/Creditor Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association, becoming its initial chairperson.
