The NAFER International Conference continues to be a Who's Who of the U.S. fiduciaries who take appointments dealing with cross border matters, the professionals who serve them, the regulators who nominate them, the judges who appoint them, and the foreign fiduciaries that they commonly interact with.

This year's format continues our tradition with the very popular simulation method of introducing and educating the attendees regarding some of the latest developments in cross-border fiduciary matters and touching up our understanding of the traditional issues impacted by new rulings or practices. Rather than the traditional panel of speakers, all participants will be organized into small groups that take on the various roles of receiver, liquidator, counsel, creditor, etc. that would be found in cases like these.

Among other issues, in March we will have a heavy focus on matters involving cross-border cooperation when constituencies of the various appointees may be at odds with each other. We will take a close look at the new Cayman Islands restructuring officer regime as it compares to liquidators appointed in a winding-up petition. We will also evaluate scenarios where U.S. based fiduciaries might prefer one type of appointee over another.
